When it comes to making excellent wines, old is gold. Although the story of Martín Berdugo goes back centuries, the single-vineyard estate that surrounds our modern winery was planted by its owner, Josefina, in the 1980s with the support of her husband Enrique and their children Antonio, Bruno and Pepa. The soul of our wines is found within our mature vineyard in Ribera del Duero.

Our single vineyard estate offers the beauty and complexity of alluvial soils in the Duero River valley: gravel, sand, silt and light clay. Our mature vines extract minerals that yield luxurious flavors and aromas.

Tempranillo
Tempranillo is Spain’s most popular grape variety. It achieves outstanding aromatic and flavor-filled qualities, with a silky texture, in our wine-growing region of Ribera del Duero. It is perfectly suited to our vineyard.
Tinto fino
Tinto Fino is the Tempranillo clone that has evolved in Ribera del Duero, where Martín Berdugo’s 87-hectare single vineyard estate harnesses the gravel, silt and light clay soils to imbue its wines with terroir-specific aromas and flavors.
Verdejo
Verdejo is the main grape used to make Martín Berdugo’s white wines. It is native to the Duero Valley and cultivated in the region of Rueda, which is near Ribera del Duero. It is refreshing and aromatically alluring.
Sauvignon Blanc
Sauvignon Blanc, a French grape variety originally from Bordeaux, was introduced to Rueda in 1974. It has been used in tiny amounts in some of Martín Berdugo’s whites, where it adds hints of aromatic finesse. It is popular in the Loire Valley as well as New Zealand and Chile.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is the principal red grape variety of France’s most famous winemaking region: Bordeaux, where it has established an extraordinary reputation due to the wonderful ruby color and beautiful aroma of its wines. It was introduced to Ribera del Duero in 1864 and has formed part of some of its wines ever since. This variety makes up three percent of our single-vineyard estate and is used in the blend of selected wines.
Albillo Mayor
Albillo Mayor is the only white grape that has been authorized by the D.O. Ribera del Duero for the purpose of making a white wine. The variety should not be confused with simple Albillo or Albillo Real.

Antonio Díez Martín, a passionate winemaker, is the family member responsible for running Martín Berdugo’s wine operation. His enthusiasm, vision and personality permeate every aspect of the business. Such is his energy and commitment that you are as likely to find him pruning vines as traveling to wine fairs across the globe.

Subvenciones destinadas a financiar proyectos de expansión internacional de las PYMES de Castilla y León – ICE Nos Impulsa – Junta de Castilla y León
Este proyecto ha permitido a Bodega y Viñedos Martín Berdugo impulsar su expansión internacional mediante la participación en ferias profesionales de primer nivel —como Barcelona Wine Week, Wine Paris y Fenavin— y la realización de misiones comerciales directas en mercados estratégicos como México, Estados Unidos, Dinamarca, China, Colombia y Suiza.
A través de estas acciones, la empresa ha reforzado su presencia exterior, establecido nuevos contactos comerciales y consolidado relaciones, contribuyendo al crecimiento y la proyección global de nuestros vinos.
Proyecto de incorporación de las TIC en las PYMES
Implantación de un sistema para la gestión de recursos humanos y cadena de suministro (ERP Odoo) y una tienda online basada en Prestashop. Año 2017. Proyecto financiado por el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) de la Unión Europea y la Junta de Castilla y León, a través del Instituto para la Competitividad Empresarial de Castilla y León (ICE), con el objetivo de conseguir un tejido empresarial más competitivo. Misión Directa Países Bálticos, Expansión Internacional.
Misión Comercial Directa a Estonia, Letonia y Lituania para la promoción de nuestros vinos. Del 26 febrero al 2 de marzo de 2018, Antonio Díez Martín, gerente de la Bodega y Viñedos Martín Berdugo. Proyectos de participación en ferias internacionales de las Pymes de Castilla y León – ICE Nos Impulsa – Junta de Castilla y León
Los objetivos de este proyecto fue la expansión internacional de nuestra bodega, mediante la participación en las ferias internacionales de Wine Paris así como Barcelona Wine Week y Prowein.
