A FAMILY TRADITIONWines from a world-renowned region

When it comes to making excellent wines, old is gold. Although the story of Martín Berdugo goes back centuries, the single-vineyard estate that surrounds our modern winery was planted by its owner, Josefina, in the 1980s with the support of her husband Enrique and their children Antonio, Bruno and Pepa. The soul of our wines is found within our mature vineyard in Ribera del Duero.

Beginning with our past, we create the future.

DiscoverOur Wines

Ribera del Duero is one of the world’s great winemaking regions.
Our wines capture its terroir perfectly.

2020Parcela 100

  • Made 100% from Tempranillo grapes grown in our vineyard on an 11-hectare plot designated Parcela 100, farmed under certified organic conditions. The grapes were mechanically harvested at night to keep low temperatures and retain all the variety’s best natural aromas.
  • Tasting notesDeep ruby red with hints of mauve. Tempranillo’s typical ripe berry fruit aromas emerge with notable concentration and focus, providing a lively feast of dark red cherries, ripe strawberries and plums, enveloped in mineral nuances derived from the vineyard. The fruit flavours, which mirror precisely those found in the aroma, come alive in the mouth with a spicy intensity that is joined by smooth tannins and fresh acidity that deliver a balanced mouthfeel that persists into a long, clean finish.
  • Food pairingsThis wine will enhance spicy dishes, gourmet beefburgers, grilled pork skewers and oven-roasted vegetable casseroles.

2014mb

  • Made with grapes from the best plots of our single vineyard estate, this wine honors the history of the winery, representing its pinnacle, blending the most advanced vineyard management and monitoring techniques with the traditions or our region and the essence of the environment.
  • Tasting notesLustrous, dark ruby red with hints of shimmering garnet. A cornucopia of aromas offers itself, encompassing ripe red and juicy dark fruit: strawberries, cherries and blackberries come to the fore, cocooned by rich vanilla and cedar box smells derived from the wine’s oak ageing process. All the fruit detectable on the nose become powerfully focused in a well balanced and silky mouthfeel, where polished tannins and restrained acidity bode well for a long-lived wine. The flavors linger long into the aftertaste and in the memory.
  • Food pairingsThis wine will enhance the finest fillet steak or wild game dishes as well as providing a perfect backdrop for imaginative vegetarian offerings or the best mature cheeses.

2020Albillo Mayor

  • Made 100% from Albillo Mayor grapes harvested from 50-60 year old vines cultivated in an ancient vineyard that contains both red and white grapes. Albillo Mayor is the only white grape that has been authorized by the D.O. Ribera del Duero for the purpose of making a white wine.
  • Tasting notesStraw color with some yellow. The wine beckons with an attractive, focused and generous fruit-driven aroma of figs, Victoria plums, greengages and a subtle herbaceous flourish reminiscent of summer flowers. It has an attractive, focused and well-structured aroma. In the mouth, a crisp acidity keeps the herbs to the fore with a rounded, refined, almost creamy mouthfeel that lingers with hints of green apples, apple peel and baking apples. The wine has an appealing, refined and well-focused mouthfeel that lingers on in a long aftertaste.
  • Food pairingsIt enhances shellfish dishes such as grilled scallops or razor clams and will accompany imaginatively seasoned prawn salads. Ideal with roast aubergines served alongside couscous or quinoa.

2022Rosado

  • Our Rosado (rosé) is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes grown exclusively on the single vineyard estate surrounding our winery.
  • Tasting notesIt has a soft, velvety mouthfeel that matches the fruit perfume perfectly and leads to a refreshing and lingering aftertaste.
  • Food pairingsIt is ideal for accompanying rice dishes of all kinds from delicate mushroom risotto to shellfish paella, fried, grilled and poached fish or seafood dishes and young cheeses.

2022Joven

  • Our Joven is a young wine offered for sale the spring after harvest with the aim of conveying an immediate impression of the year’s fruit quality. A perfect introduction to the beauty of Tempranillo.
  • Tasting notesA balanced mouthfeel confirms the vibrant purity of the fruit which is protected by soft tannins.
  • Food pairingsThis wine goes perfectly with rice dishes including curries, grilled or barbecued hamburgers and most cheeses.

2021Barrica

  • Our Barrica is the perfect starting point for a journey of discovery into the special magic that occurs when wine made from the Tempranillo grape combines with the aromas of oak.
  • Tasting notesSmoky vanilla aromas of medium-toasted oak gently surround summer strawberry and ripe red cherry fruit. The mouthfeel is fruit-filled with a silky texture.
  • Food pairingsThis wine provides a perfect backdrop for turmeric-flavored rice dishes, substantial pasta recipes, grilled or barbecued hamburgers and medium-aged cheeses.

2020Crianza

  • Tempranillo is world-renowned for combining its fruit spectacularly well with the aromas of oak. This wine is ready to be drunk but will also improve if stored horizontally.
  • Tasting notesBarrel and bottle aging have enhanced the roundness and balance of its fruit, soft tannins and fresh acidity. Its aroma of soft red berries and summer fruit is corroborated precisely in the mouth, leading to a clean, lingering aftertaste.
  • Food pairingsThis wine enhances hearty rice dishes including full-bore paellas, rich pasta and is perfect with barbecued, roast, fried or chargrilled chicken dishes and mature cheeses.

2016Reserva

  • Our Reserva represents the pinnacle of grape cultivation and winemaking at Martín Berdugo. We hand-harvest the fruit at the best possible moment from the most mature plots of our vineyard.
  • Tasting notesThe characteristic wild strawberry and juicy red cherry flavors are accompanied by subtle mineral nuances derived from the gravel, silt and light clay soils of our vineyard. Tinto Fino is the Tempranillo clone that has evolved in Ribera del Duero.
  • Food pairingsThe layered fruit flavors combined with a velvety structure mean this wine will combine with lamb, steak and roast dishes as well as mature Cheddar or Manchego cheeses.

2015Gran Reserva

  • Time and maturity become art with this Gran Reserva. Grapes of exceptional quality were hand-picked, vinified and mellowed for 30 months in barrels, 50% of French oak and 50% American, before being rounded off in bottle.
  • Tasting notesThis is a wine of rare elegance. The primary fruit aromas have evolved into a bouquet typical of mature Tempranillo, redolent of violets. The years have tamed the tannins, giving this wine a smooth mouthfeel and a finish that echoes the stony gravel of its plot in the vineyard that surrounds the winery.
  • Food pairingsThis wine is a perfect complement to traditional Spanish cuisine, such as slow-roasted suckling lamb, paella and the finest mature cheeses such as manchego.

2022Verdejo

  • Verdejo has over the past 25 years become Spain’s most popular white wine grape. It has an enticingly fruity, herbal aroma which leads to a crisp and refreshing taste and soft, lingering aftertaste.
  • Tasting notesSummer flowers and freshly cut thyme aromas lead to light-bodied greengage and Victoria plum flavors in the mouth.
  • Food pairingsThis wine acts as an excellent accompaniment for saffron rice dishes, salt-baked fish or steamed mussels with parsley.

Martín BerdugoThe Vineyard

Our single vineyard estate offers the beauty and complexity of alluvial soils in the Duero River valley: gravel, sand, silt and light clay. Our mature vines extract minerals that yield luxurious flavors and aromas.

We offer several ranges of wines that convey the essence of our vineyard, history, family and natural environment.

Martín BerdugoOur varieties

Tempranillo

Tempranillo is Spain’s most popular grape variety. It achieves outstanding aromatic and flavor-filled qualities, with a silky texture, in our wine-growing region of Ribera del Duero. It is perfectly suited to our vineyard.

Tinto fino

Tinto Fino is the Tempranillo clone that has evolved in Ribera del Duero, where Martín Berdugo’s 87-hectare single vineyard estate harnesses the gravel, silt and light clay soils to imbue its wines with terroir-specific aromas and flavors.

Verdejo

Verdejo is the main grape used to make Martín Berdugo’s white wines. It is native to the Duero Valley and cultivated in the region of Rueda, which is near Ribera del Duero. It is refreshing and aromatically alluring.

Sauvignon Blanc

Sauvignon Blanc, a French grape variety originally from Bordeaux, was introduced to Rueda in 1974. It has been used in tiny amounts in some of Martín Berdugo’s whites, where it adds hints of aromatic finesse. It is popular in the Loire Valley as well as New Zealand and Chile.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is the principal red grape variety of France’s most famous winemaking region: Bordeaux, where it has established an extraordinary reputation due to the wonderful ruby color and beautiful aroma of its wines. It was introduced to Ribera del Duero in 1864 and has formed part of some of its wines ever since. This variety makes up three percent of our single-vineyard estate and is used in the blend of selected wines.
